and the third one is marbled and shadowed....... took this one outside has it did not show up very well in the box.
   Comments as always welcome.

Hi Di and Tony

Another great selection showing off your skills and talents!  The silver gilded one is my favourite - have you textured the piece underneath the gilding, or is it burr?

I have not coloured or enhanced any of my work yet, but I have a bit of turned Sweet Chestnut, which at the moment seems a bit plain so I might have an experiment over the weekend.  Depends on whether I can get some silver gilt  tomorrow (I know I've got an unused pot of gold, so maybe that will have to do, even though I prefer the silver effect.

Thanks for showing

Kind regards

David

Ah ha! I thought to myself how on earth do you manage to find a bit of wood like that. Very clever and a good idea.

Kind regards

David

Again great piece's neat idea to join the piece's of timber together to get the effect. I looked at these several times now and have no favorite I love them all.

I like all of those, especially the crackle effect. Just shows how adding a colour and texture type effect can really make a piece stand out. Malcolm.

Hi Tony and Di

Like what you have done here and it is good to see the different effects you have come up with. The joining of the burr is neat and having cut up the Ash burr I had there was quite a lot of off cuts left over of which I cut into thick slices and stacked for drying with the intention of using them to insert into box lids etc, so it is good to see you using it for bowls another option, got mew thinking which doesn't happy often   :)

Keep up the good work

Thank You .... ED..... Malcom..... Mark..... For Commenting.

We did these to see Cause and Effect on finished pieces, still a bit unsure of the crackled one though.
   More Causes to do.

As always lovely work and effects. personally I like the crackle one, wonder what it would look like on a darker wood giving more contrast?

Tony, Di,

Yes, he said...

I, love the first one, the effect created on the burr is outstanding.

the second one I think will look far better in real life than the photo make it look, which is a shame (do you have a better photo?)

the third one is very modern looking, being monochromatic, but I think the most dramatic one to look at.

Hope these are ok Bryan..... Yes... think it is better in real life and also the marbled one.... we used a gunmetal colour which
we knew would separate but hopefully leave a shadow.... Not very good with the camera so its not picked it up very well
in the sun light you can see the glitter that as separated giving it a different marbled  look.
  Thank You Bryan Much Appreciated

I find it difficult to choose out of the top two, I'm thinking the stronger grain of the crackle bowl which sets it off in the last two pictures best, grains not as dominant to takeaway from the burr burgundy leather effect of the first form.

There's too much happening in the 3rd image to make a judgement call. I take it the 3 are all the same dimensions, this one appears as havng a wider rim.

Cheers on the good work.  David

Thank You Very Much David..... They all have varying rim sizes ... The 1st.. is more rounded.... the 2nd.... flattish
and the 3rd.. is somewhere in between. Sorry forgot to put the sizes on ...... in old money they are 10"
As always feed back is appreciated
