Fire Fire
« on: April 18, 2018, 06:03:53 PM »
May not look like turning but as with the Half track turning is involved in this one. I don't believe in buying wheels and other pieces if I can turn my hand to making them much more pleasure that way.
The latest piece finished an American Fire Truck from Toys and Joys plans measures 31" X 7" X 7 1/2" and with the ladder extended in the raised position 36" tall. Main woods Sapele and Beech with others thrown in for good measure.

Can't begin to imagine the work involved making this. Far too good to call a toy.

Derek, that is an absolutely stunning piece of work; your attention to detail is admirable.

Stunning work, having dabbled with similar for my son a few years ago I really appreciate the detail and accuracy that makes this a really great piece. Hat off to you.

Fantastic piece of work Derek
A labour of love I guess.
The Prof had his eyes on this but it's a bit too mid-late 20th century to put his fire out

Wooden toys where a little more simple, when I were a lad.

An amazing amount of work, very well done.

More of a model than a toy. I make these not only the enjoyment but if I carry on turning I would end up with soo much stock I would run out of space
