Marbling 2
« on: May 16, 2016, 09:50:16 PM »

Tony gave me 2 stained H/F to play with.... had a lot of fun but only had 3 colours in the interference paints. It seems though that
the question I was asked has been Answered, as the paints took even better than normal. One Big Problem though.. I have never
had  so much trouble trying to photograph these pieces . A tip when viewing ... Tip the screen backwards and forwards
 to truly see the iridescence.
Comments as always are most welcome
 Kind Regards
 Tony & Di

Not only have you produced more beautiful items but you have probably got the whole woodturning community pulling their computer screens back and forth!!
Good work.

.....the whole woodturning community pulling their computer screens back and forth!!...
I have this vision of somebody, somewhere, rocking their desk so that their free-standing pc monitor can wobble back and forth....CRASH!

....but on a more serious note, it's great to see you pair making in-roads into new techniques all the time; inspirational!

Hard to tell from the pics if the iridescent works I would think these probably look better in the flesh.
The colours don't look as bright as your usual marbling but I have a feeling that is because of the difficulty of getting good pics

    Thank You ... Pete.... BHT......Les.......
Much Appreciated... Thanks For The Laugh Guys :) :) :)

George they do look much better in natural light /sunshine.... have a few problems that need more experimentation so can
have more fun with the new paints .... The colours I don't think will be as intense  as applying paints with finger/dabber
but hopefully I will find out tomorrow . With normal acrylic paints you get the full intensity of the paint....with these though
your relying on the dark background to give them there intensity which tends to show through with having to make the
    paints thinner.

   Very Much Appreciated

Thank You Malcolm.... Had a day  playing with colours and found that if I mixed them a bit thicker than I normally would
there is more colour definition , still playing though.
     Much Appreciated

Di,

these give the iridescent paints a whole new effect to play with. More than that, I like the way the paint is so thin, the grain of the wood shows though the effect, to remind us it is on wood.

Thank You Bryan.....They were both stained black as a base colour ,but as you say the grain on the second one shows
through very well which to us has given it a bit of a 3D look.
      Much Appreciated
