Just that, well suited to brighten a minimalist home.

I too use the cylindrical shades inverted, far nicer way to show off the timber and form.

Will be a well received gift.

It's not easy making a solid lump of wood look comfortable. You could have so easily done any number of things to try make it look 'more' but to suit the minimalist brief, I think you've hit all the right notes.
