Hi Ron - Have a look at the Kreg Bandsaw Fence system, you will see a fine adjuster available for that.   Julian

Thanks Julian, I reckon on making one from an American magazine that I have now mislaid!
like many amateur woodturners I have to justify spending and both bank balance and space means that I can only have the one saw, so a bandsaw it is, Properly set up they are nearly as good as a saw bench and I do all my cutting on either the bandsaw or the chop saw.
Thanks for the comment Seventhdevil.

I do much the same but combine the mitre and band saws with a Makita track saw. Never found anything I could;t do yet.

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

no probs ron.

i must admit i don't use my bandsaw much these days and really only use it for cutting square blanks to round blanks for mounting on the lathe or cutting out shaped bits like spatula blanks.

since i bought the rip saw it has been proved to be so useful that i don't know what i'd do without it.

My pillar drill is the same as yours. The bandsaw is an Axi 400 which is good for the price. Mitre saw is the Bosch Axial Glide which was a bit pricey but really is a dream to use.

I have a Startrite 352 Bandsaw it must be 40 years old if it's a day, Same with the Planer Thicknesser that's a Sartrite as well. I got them from a local School that was closing. El Cheapo Sliding Mitre Saw from B&Q (did it's job but can't recommend it) and a Makita 2704 Table Saw  --  Julian (Avatar pic shows bandsaw)

My band saw is a Metabo 317 and I cut a veneer half a mill thick to day
A Power Devil  pullsaw, given to me by my family on my retirement, 11 years old and still going well,
A Makita chop saw bought a t 1/3 retail price as it was damaged, great saw.
A really well used Axminster M950 lathe now 16 years old and bough new,
A Startrite pillar drill which I have had 20 years and according to the serial number is 57 years old.
Two grinders one for sharpening and one for rough grinding
A Sip 8" planer which because of the noise and vibrations I use as little as I can.

My favourite tools? my hand planes, especially my 100 year old No 6 Jointer bought for £9 in a car boot sale, yes there are a few bargains left yet!

To go back to the original post..... I have just been watching a Lyle Jamison youtube vid about his laser hollowing gismo which needs very precise positioning. His tool rest has a screw thread with a big nut resting on the banjo. I suspect this comes with the hollower but no idea if it is available over here.
