« on: October 29, 2012, 02:57:47 PM »
I was ask by a friend of the people who had the two Apricot if I could make them something like them but not exactly the same so I set about making these two little laburnum bowls one was supposed to be a burr but I cant find it they are not from the same log I did manage to keep the bark on these and applied some thin CA to prevent it coming of in the future with a bit of luck all comments welcome Enjoy

Woody, not content with teasing us with White in your Yew, you've now found some in a piece of Laburnum!

And no cracks in the cambium wood either, Laburnum is notorious for that, is it very green or luck?

It looks like you lost the outer curve a little on the lower bowl but otherwise two very nicely turned pieces.
Oh Lord, Lead me not into temptation…

...Oh who am I kidding, follow me, I know a shortcut!

Both are very nice Woody, though I agree the first has the better flow.

Yes I'm in agreement but the shape of the log determined the shape of the second one if I had made it a perfect dome it would have had a hole in the side which I don't normally mind but It was wanted as a life bowl and it is a bit small to have a hole in it I hope that explains why I did it like that

Wow ...  Woody, if it's not the wood, it's the pieces as well that are always amazingly stunning ...  they keep on coming.
