Francesco,  what a stunning piece and balanced combined forms, like the carved raised detail before the turned knob, excellent work.

Cheers      David

Francesco,

Not as far off the norm as you're previous postings, but still a differently designed piece all the same.

I'd like to know what you mean by 'erica' to me that's the Latin name of Heather, although that can include some larger plants as well.

Hi dr4g0nfly   ERICA is a plant from the Mediterranean area,  and develops a root  similar to a large onion , in these photos is then when freshly cut but,  when dry is very easy for ripping and I use it a few times to work in natural edge excuse for my bad english thanks for your intervention  :)
P.S. : the best bits are also used to make pipes, but are left to dry in the dark for at least 7/8 years is a very nervous wood  :D

Ah, as an (ex) pipe smoker I understand, it's what I know as briar, yes a wonderful root burr unfortunatly not redily available in the UK in turning sized pieces.

Lovely piece, right up my street. I love the use of these odd bits of wood that so many just throw away.
