So what have I been doing with my new lathe 03

A bowl inspired by Mark Sanger. A footless beech bowl mounted on a piece of cotswold stone. Both came from the same lady's paddock and it is going to her as a gift.

8" x 5" by 3 1/2" deep finished in one coat of DO

You have kept the edges really sharp, not an easy thing to achieve..... must be down to that new lathe.
I'm sure the lady will be over the moon.

I must apologise for the photography. My small lens is broken, I'm working with a huge zoom lens at the moment.

The Lady really loved the piece, the fact that the bowl had to find it's own balance point on the stone to become stable had her fascinated and chuckling.

Apart from the spalting I was also happy to be able to leave in the odd woodworm gallery - it's all part of the timbers story.

This was the first piece of a whole trunk so hopefully there will be a few more somethings out of it.
