Just a quick question, are morse tapers universal for wood and metal lathes?

there are different sizes like 1,2 and 3 but yes they should be the same size as long as the number is the same.

Yes, as said they are normally the same. In years gone by there were competing tapers like Brown & Sharpe that no doubt found their way into some machine tools years ago.
