More scruffy old wood
« on: May 07, 2020, 03:17:22 PM »
Digging even deeper into the stack of old, dusty dirty wood I found what looked like a piece of burr. Turning it carefully ( fair few splits and gaps in it)  I kept the smallest fissures and filled them with copper. . Final result is an elm burr with an oak pedestal stained to a reasonable match. 13" (330mm) diameter and standing 6" (150mm) tall the unusual shape has been dictated by the wood as bits came loose and some that had to be removes. A bit reminiscent of the georgian urns. Serendipity not deliberate.
C&C welcome as always.

Pete

Scruffy wood is good Like both of these but the first one tops it for me so much character in the wood

Pete, what you manage to make from scraps never ceases to amaze me. Whether it's called a Tazza or elevated Fruit Bowl, really works well.
