Segmented Oak vase

OK here's one that will definitely divide opinion.

Why did I destroy a perfectly good vase? Because I wondered what it would look like. I thought it might add interest. I wanted it to be different. Over to you!

Hi CS,I would have liked to see the finished product.To me it looks as though you didn't like the piece so you threw it in the fire, then changed your mind and rescued it.It seems a lot of work in the segmenting and turning only to destroy it.Regards John

My first thoughts were voiced by mark Sanger, a good experiment but wasted on such a difficult piece to make.

But then I looked again and through the open top I saw the more limited burning/scorch marks around the gaps. Maybe not something we'd like to dwell on but it reminded me of the soot marks from a burnt-out building. Maybe next time (if you repeat the experiment) you could burn from the inside (somehow).
