Lets teach woodturning
« on: June 07, 2018, 08:22:16 PM »
I finallly got round to downloading the 'lets teach woodturning' course. I downloaded it successfully and used the wizard to set it up. I get the red icon on the desktop, but only  a grey screen when I try to open it to see what I can learn, what have I done wrong or failed to do? ???

Note that the Adobe Flash application is being phased out. Although Flash was previously a dominant platform for online multimedia content, it is slowly being abandoned as Adobe favors a transition to HTML5. Flash Player has been deprecated and has an official end-of-life by 2020.  You may find you have to customize your web browser to display Flash content on the web as there are security issues with it.

If you run the course from the downloaded viewer, it removes a lot of the browser issues but I think you still need Flash to be installed.

You can also run the course direct from the website without downloading / installing but you do need a Flash enabled browser for that to work. Here's the link - http://www.awgb.co.uk/ltt/player.html

I have recently re-installed Windows 10 on a fresh HDD and don't have flash player installed but LTT installed and runs fine here.
Paul will probably correct me here but was there talk of it not working on Apple when it was launched. Maybe later versions of iSO have addressed this issue.  Julian

When it first came out, I couldn't download it either - so I bought the dvd  :)

Tanks for the replies, but-- I have installed the latest version of Flash player and still get the grey screen. We have some requests from club members for basic tuition, andwe do need to have at least one member  with the right qualifications.

If you don't already have Flash player installed, you need to download and install that separately.

If it doesn't run from the icon when it is installed, the problem is almost certainly Flash player.

As an alternative, you can run it from your own web browser without installing by using this link http://www.awgb.co.uk/ltt/player.html
If that doesn't run either, again the issue is Flash player.

Thanks Paul, that worked. It did ask me to allow Flash Player which the downloaded version does not.
Any way all sorted and some work to do!
