intrinsic coloured beech bowl.

this is my first attempt at using the intrinsic colouring. i turned the bowl last night and finished of tonight.it is finished with Hampshire sheen high gloss finish, all comments welcome.

Hmm, I am not terribly impressed. I think it looks patchy, and I don't think it adds anything to the piece. Don't get me wrong, I think your shape is good, and the finish is good, but the colour isn't.

I think the patchness is more about the wood than the colouring but i might be wrong.

Hi , Did you treat the surface with several coats of sanding sealer before applying te colour ? Also I think ( May be wrong ) that it best to build up the colour from light to dark

hi Wood spinner the information on the intrinsic kit say that you get better results from bare timber and no sand sealer. but may try it that way in another go later.

Like Fuzzy I don't think that the colours do a lot for this bit of Beech. But that up to the turner all our tastes are different.

I like the shape of the bowl and the finish looks good.

I'm not sure about the back there looks like a torn grain mark at 4 o'clock and there's three dark marks at 7 o'clock.

I'm a little confused as to why you would stain wood another brown colour unless you want to make it look like a different timber.

Notwithstanding the good design and finish, this does not really work for me.
