Richard probably does have a point. When I spoke to Peter (owner of the toolpost) about his chucks, mounting jaws and holding jaws, he did admit that they are all made in India, and it is quite a challenge to get a decent repeat quality from these folks. So, with SK you get a chuck made in England (at least that's what Axminster claims, and you have to pay for that. With the VC you don't get the same quality, but then it's almost half the price. Take your pick.
I have 2 VC, one of them considerably older than the other, and they have slightly different dimensions on the mounting jaws. In consequence, half of my jaws fit onto the one body and the other half onto the other. Doesn't bother me much, to be honest. But then, we all place value on different things.
