Kew gardens
« on: August 13, 2017, 09:51:25 PM »
I've had a few days away in London, whilst I was there I spent the day (Friday) at Kew gardens, the weather was good enough to have a picnic under an Oak tree. One place at Kew which I can recommend visiting is the North gallery.
Marianne North was a very talented artist and traveller who painted pictures of plants and flowers from across the world, she then gifted them to Kew and built the gallery which bears her name, for them to be displayed in. What I found fascinating though was the planks of timber from all over the world that were placed at the foot of the walls as panelling. Each plank bearing its name and country of origin. I can honestly say that it was well worth a visit  (especially as I get a concession rate now)  ;)
