That cures it

What a great collaboration. Very much like the effect of the polymer clay and having worked with it (a little) I know it has huge potential. Looking forward to seeing more as this is a great addition to you latest exploration.

Sounds like a great day for both in the making of this and I like the polomer clay effect.
I have seen it put to some very dramatic effects. Some one makes flower shapes and the makes it in to pen blanks by arranging them around the tube very much like you have done around the rim.

Toni Ransfield makes superb polymer clay pen blanks.https://www.claypenblanks.com/
also Natalia Truckle in UK.

I was responding to a part of Derek's post (in this thread)  But thank you for telling me what I should and shouldn't do for the second time this week-I'll not bother again !

It is impolite to take a thread off topic.
Dereks comment was comment was part of his cmment on the bowl.

Read it again John not a problem with Derek he was saying about clay as part of his comment on the Bowl.

My problem was Mike leading it of on another topic when he was not commenting on the bowl
If you look back through the thread Mike never commented on the bowl his only comment was to get members looking elswhere
I pointed out that there is a proper place for recomendations

My opinion on this is " Less is more " think the clay is dominant , a norrower band just to compliment would be better proportoned , but its just my oppinion  :D

I always try and get a balance between wood and decoration the idea being that the colour band is sat on top of the wood and the plain band either side of it ties it in with the inner Bowl.
I dont really see how a thinner band would be an improvement but you might be right.
How do you see it the coloured band complimenting the wood or the wood complimenting the coloured band.
I would also be interested in how others see the proportions and whether they work as they are

Personally I think that having a thinner bamd would just make it different, not improve it. A case of beauty in the eye of the beholder. I suspect that the band would become a more dramatic feature in a paler wood but again it's a matter of preference. I am sure this is just the first one and you will be experimenting with Ali and trying different versions so look forward to those.
