Spalted Silver Birch Hollow Form

Morning all
Another go at a hollow form from spalted silver birch, size is approx. 8" high x 6.5" diameter at its widest, apologys for the quality of photos, c&c welcome

This is a cracking piece of timber Andy, and you've done it proud. I like the shape and the nice bit of detail around the neck. The finish looks good as well.

Nothing wrong with the photos.

I like the fact that you have kept it simple design, allows the wood to do all the shouting. Can't see anything to criticise sorry. LOL

Cracking job, Andy...despite the spalting looking to be quite advanced, it looks as though you've worked it very cleanly.

Hi Andy,
Cracking hollow form, well done.
Spalted  silver birch is not the easyist of timbers to work with, it looks like you caught it just in time before the spalting process makes the wood to soft/spongy/pucky

I really like Birch for the fact you can get a trunk that has spalted like this. Give the finished form a symmetry.

Not sure if Birch spalts standing, I know it is susceptible to the Birch Polypore (Horse-hoof fungus).

A really attractive form you've got there, well done.
