Yew Bowl
« on: June 05, 2017, 08:42:29 PM »
I`ve had a scrap of yew hanging about for yrs,it looked a bit rubbish, but I thought I`d have a go at it and made a small bowl out of it,glad I did as I started turning it the beautiful coulors came out and really popped when I oiled it,the photos don`t do the colours justice though, looks better in the flesh,Cheers,

Eric.

Not always easy to get wood like this to stay in one piece. Like George I suspect it would be better seen in the flesh as the shadows tend to hide the shape etc a bit but loks like a good one from what I can see.

Eric,

there is so little wood there, I think calling it a bowl might be a stretch. But all joking aside that's an amazing piece of turning, very well done on holding it together and finishing it.

that looks rather nice Eric and like others have said that could not have been easy as there's more air than wood.

All the best

Hello Eric, it would’ve been nice to see a before turning image of the yew. All the best.
