walnut natural edge bowl.
« on: May 11, 2017, 09:20:31 PM »
at our wood turning club last night I produced this natural edge bowl in walnut. I had a few turners looking on and asking questions of me as I turned. it is 8x6x2 in size. it is finished with Hampshire sheen. all comments welcome.

thank you George unfortunately I didn't have a vacuumed chuck and needed to trim the base so tried to use this as a decretive point.

it depends how deep the hole is it might be deeper than the foot or just look on it as a demo piece and accept it as it is.
I am just being picky it is a nice piece

thank you George your comments are always taken on board and try and rectify if possible. I tried to get the foot of this at the correct size in the first place. being over looked by club members I think I just forgot to get it right first time. thank you.

Georges comment stands, but more importantly, it's good to see (or read) about club members who will stand up and demo in front of the other members. So few want to, well done.

I really enjoy passing on what I know specially to them that have never turned before. it wasn't a demo it was just a hands on night but decided to turn this bowl. other members just congregated round and washed me turn so started to explain the process I was taking to do it.

Dennis (Wider) did a Demo at his club a few years ago on Segmented Turning Processes, I'm not sure if this was your first or second Demo at the club Dennis but a DVD was made of it and he was kind enough to let me have a copy. I hope you won't mind me saying Dennis but it was very good and very informative with a few Blue Peter Moments (here's one I made earlier), so good on you and keep it up.  Julian

hi Julian
that was my 2nd demo at the club that I sent you. we record all our monthly demos and then if any member misses it they can borrow the dvd and watch it. I am glad you enjoyed it.
