Horse Chestnut Hollow Form
« on: March 10, 2017, 01:43:59 PM »
Afternoon all
A horse chestnut hollow form that I roughed out several months ago, got round to finishing it this morning, its 6" diameter x 4 1/4" high, there was no spalting on this piece when roughed out so was nicely surprised to see a bit in it c&c welcome
Andy.
regards
Andy

It sits nicely Andy, which I guess is a reflection of your attention to detail in getting the flow of the curve and the size of the foot well balanced.
Les
Education is important, but wood turning is importanter.

'reflection' is a very apt word with that finish  ;D Love the piece,what spoils it for me is the lack of 'depth of field' in the photography.

These were taken with my phones camera(which is all I have at the moment) I think I will concentrate on form and finish before I hone my photography skills  ::)

Now either I'm cracking up, I'm having problems with some postings, because this is the second time recently I know I've replied to a posting and cannot see it. So as best I remember;

The last image reminds me of one of those photos taken from space where the line in the outline of the countries so you know where they are under the clouds. Accidental but really effective.

And I cannot fault the forms shape of finish either.
