I like the form, although the dark marks on it may cause a few issues as it dries. More likely to create interest than anything though.

The finial, it too powerful for the form to carry.

I agree totally with Bryan. However, I'm not a finial turner, so my thoughts are purely those of an observer. I feel that the finial has too strong a presence, and that it overpowers the form. Also, whereas the form has a single, flowing curve, the finial has a multitude of shape changes, so becomes far too fussy in its outline. Simpler and smaller would be better.....but keep the hollow form, it's lovely.

For ideas regarding the finial, google Cindy Drozda and look at the images. She does a lot of slender slim styles and is a good source of inspiration.

Hi Dennis

Great to see you keeping at it and making so many pieces. Repetition and balanced critical observation of our work is a key to success in any discipline. There is a section in my book that looks at the proportions of a form and lid, but also how to hone this down to individual parts to give balance within the composition as a whole. Keep up the good work.
