Havent posted for awhile, life is very busy and this is the last piece in a consignment to a local gallery. In the middle of a hotsummer with temps rising to 45C at times and dipping to 20C with rain storms with falls of 75mm in less than an hour.
This is part of a haul of Blackwood from a very large tree that came down in a major rain storm. Normally associated with Tasmania
http://www.tastimber.tas.gov.au/SpeciesDetailsGeneral.aspx?SpeciesID=3 This tree grew in the Southern Highlands of NSW, a very similar climate and only a hours drive from me. Its a native and the premier Australian timber for furniture and indoor pieces.
20cm dia by 15cm , finished with Antique oil from Minwax and buffed while wet.
