Figured Sycamore Hollow Form
« on: January 04, 2017, 07:14:37 PM »
First turning of the year, a piece of figured sycamore coloured with Chestnut Spirit Stains and topped off with an African Blackwood collar and finial.  Overall height (including finial) is 9" x 4.25". The final colour was not the initial intended colour but the addition of a bit to much of one colour ended in the result you see.
Over all I am quite pleased with the end result. C & C's welcome

Best Regards and a Happy New Year to all.  Gary

Amazing depth in that finish and the colour looks fine to me....a good start to the year, I'd say!

I love the flame that has been brought out with the stain.

Can I ask what you are finishing with, a Gloss varnish or a build up of many layers of oil that has been allowed to polymerise.
Oh Lord, Lead me not into temptation…

...Oh who am I kidding, follow me, I know a shortcut!
