I was given a couple of big hunks of Sycamore trunk 2 weeks ago, after splitting each piece into 3 I have 4 vase/hollow form blanks and 2 large bowl blanks,I made a natural edge bowl out of one, which is still waiting to be finished as it still quite wet,the other one I used the bigger edge to get a bigger bowl, but not as deep as it was a thinner blank,I made a large ring foot as its to be used as a fruit bowl and needs to be stable, which was going to be cut and carved into 3 feet, all going well so far,got the feet cut and thought, lets see how it looks standing on a flat surface, which showed up my mistake, the bottom of the bowl was deeper that the feet,so had to cut them off and turn/carve 3 new feet,I used Iroko for the new feet as it is a nicely contrasting timber and made sure they were long enough to clear the bottom of the bowl this time haha, cheers, Eric.
