Cracking colour, Ed, and I especially like the flow from base, through form to finial. Echoing the shape of the base in the finial is a nice touch, too.

Love the colouring and the overall shape though, opposite to Les I am not so keen on the similarity between the base and the finial, more the too close length than the shape though. Personal taste again <LOL.

Overall very pleasing Ed shape and colouring.
I 'm not sure about the change of curve towards the very top - it looks a tad angular
Love the vase shape tho'
Kind Regards
Nick

Ed,

I really like the body of the piece, the shape and especially the colouring, but like a few others the top part (lid) fails in my opinion.

Reasons: The bead is central, it should have been at a point 1/3rd up (Rule of thirds). The top of the 'lid' diameter is smaller than the diameter of the part that fits against the vase form, it should be the same size or preferably a little larger.

So if the bead had been lower, and the section above more flared it would have sat far more happily.

But again, that is my opinion and I am quite sure there are many that would disagree with me.

Thank you all for your comments.

I played around with the base and finial a bit and settled on this as I liked it. I think that there will be more of this work so I'll try the ideas given and see where it goes.

All the best

Ed
