Turned, textured, burnt and guilded burr oak.
« on: August 14, 2016, 10:30:29 PM »
A recently finished piece, burr oak, turned, textured, burnt and guilded, mounted on 16mm solid polished brass rods, onto an ebonized oak base with oiled oak feet. First time I've mounted a piece like this, needed a decent size base as piece is 26"x17"x3" and think it works ok, all I've got to do now is work out a realistic price, the hardest part I always find. The more I get the less time I need to spend at the day job, thus more lathe time which is what I want.

Regards Darren

Thanks Ed, think it turned out OK considering the scrappy old bit of wood it was made from.

It works for me, on many levels...the balance of the decoration and especially the mix of colours which harmonise so well.

Education is important, but wood turning is importanter.

That really works doesn't it.

I'm seeing a well used shield, all torn and cut up from its masters battles, hanging proudly on a wall declaring it's worth - or it it just me?
Oh Lord, Lead me not into temptation…

...Oh who am I kidding, follow me, I know a shortcut!
