Damn.
Just reading this and it suddenly flashed into my mind that I never renewed my membership in January.  Eek!!

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

This is usually a very enjoyable day meeting those from other clubs and swapping news and ideas, The wood for sale is always first class and so is the lunch (diets go out the window, what is seen eaten at Oddington is never spoken about)  :-X :-X :-X
I am just sorry I will not be there this year.

Is it the same date every year? I'm busy this weekend but I'll book it so I don't miss it next year.

No idea what date will be next year.  It will depend on venue availability.

We'll advertise it as soon as we know

Cheers Dave

Can you vary the venue? Gloucestershire is a long way from East Anglia, and even further from Scotland!

What's public transport like to Stow-on-the Wold on a Sunday, please  ?

It seems to me that if the organisers want a large attendance, it should be at a central London venue - even if it's more expensive.

I think the closest train stations are Kingham to the south or Moreton in the Marsh to the north.

The bus passes through Oddington every Thursday!

If you were serious about attending I'm sure someone could pick you up from the train station.

I've used the railway journey planner to check trains from London to both Kingham And Moreton.

There are none to arrive in time for the meeting.

As it happens, I'm committed to be elsewhere but my research suggests that a generally more convenient location that can be reached by public transport would result in greater attendances.

 Hi Everyone,
I have attended a lot of the AWGB AGMs over quite a number of years and I would think possibly at 4 or 5 different venues in those years and it is the same old story when you consider how many Branches and Members the AWGB have it is very low attendance at this event and mostly the same Club representatives and Members in attendance and no doubt where ever it was held it would be the same.

                                                 Regards John ;D ;D

Why is the AGM not held at the Loughborough (or wherever) Seminar?

It need NOT last longer than 15 minutes if all reports are circulated in advance.

There is, of course, the danger that lots of people with attend and ask awkward questions!

The AGM is an opportunity for members and branch representatives to ask questions, make suggestions and air their views so it would be very optimistic to limit the duration to 15 minutes.
