Well done on this piece Steve , a good size and  excellent finish , and you have got the holes / voids nicely positioned and distributed about the piece as well . I rather like the detail around the entrance hole as well .   I usually paint the interior of mine matt black as I feel it shows of the surface better especially if the voids are quite large as in this piece , however I would not do this once the piece is dried and finished as the sudden damping with emulsion on the wood surface on the interior can induce cracking !! ....
