Crackle
« on: November 26, 2015, 12:29:44 PM »

Finally finished these the drying proses can be a bit drawn out ........ As always they are turned by Tony.
The Bowl is 5 1/2" x 3" and the wide rim is 10 1/2" ...... They are both finished using crackle paste and acrylics with a oil finish.
    Comments as always most welcome

Looking at that first imagfe there's almost an oriental feel about it. Am I the only one who sees dragomns? Be interested in where this takes you both.

Thank You Pete... You are not on your own in your vision or thinking.... could not be sure how it would turn out,
I have been experimenting with crackle blisters for want of a better word .... the effects are not immediate and can take several
days to get the full effect.
   Kind Regards

Very nice Georg ... I can see fossils etc in the first one as well , it has a very ancient air to it , good to see things that are not all shiny smooth and polished ...

I'm not sold on the platter, but the bowl.

I see a ceramic bowl that the maker has created a fossil effect in. The stone remnants of a long dead species of fish.

I kind of pulls at me.

Thank You Very Much ..... Twig.... Bryan
We are still working on the different effects crackle can give and also how to incorporate it
         into some texturing work.
         Much Appreciated

Hi D&T...just spotted this thread (a bit behind, this week). I love the shape of the first bowl, it's a shape that I make a lot and is reminiscent of the old kitchen mixing bowl with a good, strong rim to bash the mixing spoon against. Like Brian, I see fossils a-plenty.....reminds of my days on the beach in south Wales searching for fossils in the rock-falls.
