Update on Trowbridge exhibition
« on: September 02, 2015, 10:01:50 PM »
I have been in the town hall today to put up the glass cases that were donated by one of our members (I won't say his name on here just in case he doesn't want the publicity) but he donated the cases and put them together with me. You know who you are so thankyou very much. We have been given a very good display area in the town hall. I am also grateful to those of you that agreed to let me show your pieces in Trowbridge. It is shaping up to be a great exhibition, I picked up another piece over the weekend to show and there are one or two bits still to come in. All in all we will have about 70 exhibits on display.
Please pass the details on to others by any method you can.
12th September to 10th October, 10 am to 4 pm each day except Sundays.

George I am ever hopeful that members of my club will steward it, I will do my bit of course and there will be town hall volunteers there too.

So I have been in the town hall today just unpacking all the exhibits and the last exhibit has been delivered too. Remember in the film Jaws when the chap said he would need a bigger boat? well it was a bit like that today. :D :D :D
The people that were helping me unpack were very impressed with the quantity and diversity of the pieces in the exhibition  so everything is looking good.
I look forward to those clubs in the SW that said they would run a minibus here to have a look. Your support is valuable.

It was opening night last night. It went really well with loads of people there, some had travelled quite far just to attend. It was opened by the Mayor of Trowbridge with words of welcome from the Director of Trowbridge arts and yours truly. Today I was informed that the only event to attract more visitors to the venue than we did on the first day was when they hosted the Derwent art prize exhibits. So as you can imagine I am very pleased with that.
One or two things to sort out along the way just to ensure smooth running but otherwise I am very happy.
I am pleased that some of my friends in the wood turning world have passed the word around but would still appreciate more postings etc. I will be posting pictures as I get them.

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

I was sat stewarding at the town hall today and thought this would be a picture for the forum. Could be the silhouette of a group visiting.

Doing my stewarding stint yesterday, coming up the stairs I saw this tantalising glimpse of the exhibition.
