pyrography - help needed
« on: August 21, 2015, 01:41:09 PM »
I have one of these wassamacallits which I use for the usual signature on the bottom of turnings, however I would like some advice of the best tip to use, it is the usual two wire unit the current tip has a triangle profile and seems to cool off quickly which means going very slowly so not allowing a normal writing script to be used- or is it just me?

When you say two wire tip I assume you mean like the Peter Childs one? If so it might be the wires need cleaning or changing as they accumulate a coating as you use them.

Make your own. Hammer the wire so it is flattened and you can get a nice clean edge to burn with.

It was Bob Neill selling the tips we brought some. He recommend the tip with a small ball on it for signing work.

All the best

As it is a Peter Child pyrography machine, why not check their web site?
Just a suggestion

Ok I will have a bash at making my own tips, what size wire would be best for script, there seems quite a choice. Onlu to be used for the usual signing or completed work, I am not skilled enough for shading etc......
