Alder from Ian
« on: August 14, 2015, 02:01:14 PM »
A while ago somebody said on the Forum that Alder was boring or something like that.
Well here is the proof that is isn't I have received some from Ian at Turners cabin and it is stunning.
I happen to know that Ian has more of this so if you want some get in touch with him he is doing it a very special price

That really is some beautiful wood George/Ian. The bowl is very simply turned and shows the wood in all its beauty.

What I had Les was about 29% moisture so it would pay to rough it out a wait a few months before finishing.
The pieces I had I turned and sanded to a finish soaked them with lemon oil and wrapped them in brown paper and that seems to be working. Ian sells this in either blanks or by the pallet load. Better value for you to buy a pallet load I would think.
