I thought I’d open a new thread.

Who would you recommend on Youtube?

I’ll start with Lyle Jamieson.

I do not watch woodturning on Utube simply because I find it boring. I have watched a few Utube videos and was not terribly impressed. The trouble is with Utube anybody can put stuff up there good or bad and I have had a number of students completely confused after watching Utube.
How do novice turners know what is worth watching and what is not.

Regards George

So, the point of this thread is to recommend to newbies, like me, who's videos are the best to view so that we perhaps don't get influenced or confused by the wrong stuff.

I have found the Wyoming Woodturner good

https://www.youtube.com/user/WYOMINGWOODTURNER?feature=em-subs_digest

But as George rightly says, there is a lot of bad practice out there.  If it looks dangerous it probably is so don't do it.

Best way to learn is go on a course (AWGB do them),   or get a copy of Keith Rowley's book Woodturning A Foundation Course

Cheers Dave

I have watched quite a lot of them, and George is right, there are some pretty bad practices shown in some videos. OTOH, the Wyoming Woodturner is pretty good and has some "basic techniques" videos out. I've seen some of Lyle's and they are also good.
Jimmy Clewes also has a few videos out (mostly from demos at clubs in the USA) and they are pretty good. I have even found a series of videos from Ray Key, where he explains all the basics of bowl turning.

Thanks for the reccommendation Mark. My videos are not really tutorial though. I just like to show how I work and something slightly different to other youtube videos.
