WOW!

I think these look fantastic almost like pewter.  My favourite is the bowl with the contrast of the burr wood inside.

Being a relative newbie to this craft I haven't really got into colouring or texturing any work yet - but seeing these I might have to re-think!

Stunning work, well done both of you

Kind regards

David

Love the finish on these. The first one looks almost like a relic from a museum. Have you done this with a gold finish? I imagine it would look just as dramatic but not the same antique look.

As burnt, you'd call it colored, the same as in textured too and just a subtle hint of silver.  Has the makings .. these are stunning pieces and look as if their your usual unearthed finds, even down to being Bog Oak.

We're so taken back with the finish to consider form, plain, simple, could say the wood said it all.

If any jump out .. it's the bowl .. could do with a burn line to define the bowl ..  ;D ..

Still chuckling at the glove, as privy to the joke ... As burning goes .. lets hope not for the Big Red Truck ...  Safe burning and easy on the BBQ.

Cheers  David

Just one question...

Where do you find the courage to take such a wonderful piece of timber and attack it with a blowtorch?

Okay, the end result is beautiful, certainly the first two (the third one has a strange shape almost like a bit of leg around a knee – or is that just me seeing it?)

And yes I’ve scorched timber to enhance the plain grain and bring out a texture, but Tony my hat is off to you here, not only for the effect you created but having the courage to burn it to this level.

And Di what you’ve done with the ‘delivered cinders’ is amazing to look at.

Love these.  Similar effect to monochrome photography, focussing the eye on the shapes and textures.  That bowl is fantastic.

Thank You David.....Can see what you are saying about a burn line on the bowl.... with the rim looking a bit like old lace
( to my eyes ) ;D thought it might be a bit much.. but is food for thought . We both enjoyed working on the Find (Dig Themed Pieces
and these as you say are very reminiscent of those. Have really enjoyed doing these and experimenting again with different
ageing effects. Luckily we have a lot of wood to play with.

Thank You Bryan.... They have been fun to do.....Tony`s got a lot of timber to play with and he reckons he will be
two hundred and 96 before he gets through it  ;D..... that is of course as long as he stops burning it.
The piece of oak used for the vase dictated the shape of that one Bryan.... or it might be my Photography.  ;D

Hi Tony and Di

What a fantastic texture and finish, looks so effective. Love the platter as it works so well with the burr center, thanks for sharing.
