And thinking about it. I remember around 2000/2001 there being a new plastic on the market called Microban or similar. It was claimed to kill any bacteria that came in contact with it.

So possibly something as good (or better) than wood has been invented, but that does not make wood any the worse, it's still (it is claimed) better than most cutting surfaces.

i suppose that would be good for surgical uses.

not chopping boards though, i'm of the school saying if it ain't broke don't fix it.
