Tuition and Walnut......
« on: April 09, 2015, 05:11:00 PM »
Odd mix?

Two things if I may:

I feel the need for some tuition.  Pleased with where I've got to but sure as heck there are plenty of issues with my technique that need sorting before they become too engrained.  Any recs for a good tutor on the north Staffs / South Cheshire / Derbyshire area?  Really would like someone fairly close  who I can visit fairly regularly.

I was given some walnut yesterday....approx 6-8" diameter x 4ft long limbs cut last autumn.  Still quite wet.  Am I best turning it wet, cutting and storing, storing without cutting, or something else (other than give it to you  ;) ).

Ta

Thanks George. To be honest he's a little further away than is ideal......a good couple of hours assuming I can around Birmingham with no problems which is never to be taken for granted!   Not impossible though if I can't find someone closer...

Open the AWGB website and check the links to members tuition. Most RPTs who teach are listed there.

Also have you looked in the back of the Wood turning magazine.
