Burr Oak Bowl
« on: March 29, 2015, 11:44:22 PM »
Not turned a bowl in ages but this piece of Burr Oak screamed BOWL  :)

It's 320mm x 70mm finished with Danish oil and left to dry, and not a golden anything in sight  :)

as said elsewhere its a beaut.

Not a golden anything, the thirds perhaps  :) :) I see the diameter of the foot is very close to it.  :) :)

Hi Ed, nicely turned and finished, personally I prefer crisper details but can see that the "soft" detailing follows through the whole piece.
Nice bit of wood too.

At the risk of starting another discussion I'd probably call this a platter if the bottom is as flat as it looks in the picture. LOL. A very well turned, beautiful one whatever it is.

Nice One ED..... The oil finish has brought out the rich depth of the oaks colour.

Pete

It's a bowl the picture does not really show the depth but it's around 60mm deep  :)

A lovely piece of wood Ed and you have done it proud.

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?
