The new shop's almost ready!
« on: March 28, 2015, 05:35:32 PM »
Well, that's been a hectic week. We've turned around the interior of a very tatty, dirty and unloved shop with untold quantities of paint, mdf, filler, fabrics, Paracetamol, Radox and Tiger-balm.....and now it's almost ready. We have one more craft-worker delivering stuff to us tomorrow and the shop is really filling up. I've got my own little gallery area (including the window) as you walk through the front door and more of my cheaper lines are spread around, mixed in with oak furniture and other home accessories. It's been very encouraging to have so many friends and even total strangers call in to say how much they appreciate that another tatty old empty shop in the town is back in use, and 'sold' labels are being put on things before we officially open. Roll on Monday morning.

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

Les,

your tag line says be a Free Thinking Man,

Think you've achieved that. Nice set-up, layout and boy have you been busy in the workshop.

All the best in your new venture and the next life adventure.

(Now I'm going to have to come up for a look around, aren't I?)

...that could happen, Pete....we've had to put 'Sold' labels on a few items already and we have taken orders for a few more. I had put my prices up by another 30%to cover the rent of the shop and to pay me the commission that I would normally allow other shop-keepers to take off my work, so I felt that I was charging a little too much, but all seems OK

Les,
You must be over the moon.  The layout looks fantastic, not cramped or cluttered and a great variety of items, just hope you manage to keep up with the demand.
Very best of luck!

Les after all the effort you have put in you certainly deserve to be successful. I wish you all the best in your venture. If you run out of stock just commission members of this site to make stuff for you. ;D ;D ;D
Just a thought...you ought to let us know where it is so that we can visit.
