nice one George. Having recently replied that I prefered plain unadulterated wood there are exceptions and here me thinks you have sparingly used the spirit stains  and its come up a treat.

Hi Phil

Thank you for commenting I have been doing quite a lot of colouring lately that leaves the grain showing rather than obliterating it.

I had to look twice to see where the stain had gone. Lovely shape, and beautiful wood well treated.

Hi George,
Not wishing to encroach upon your thread this is something I turned in 2012 this was Ash stained with spirit dye 4 1/4"tall X 3" in dia.
I can see from comparing this with yours my shape is lousy it is far to short and stubby.C&C Welcome.

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

Nice. Almost a perfect egg shape. The stain accentures the grain pattern, very nice.
