Does the colour variation come about because of the different wood densities or because you have done it deliberately George? Whichever it really looks like it is on fire, You are slowly converting me to coloured wood here  >:(

I have used a mixture of colors on here Pete but the grain in the wood adds to the effect.
Will we be seeing colored work soon then Pete?

Maybe, I have a load of oak burr that would possibly look good done this way. Also got a few boring bowls I made ages ago that would be good to practice on.

Ed...if ever you get a chance to go to one of George's demos, do so, but take a large note pad and write at a furious pace to keep up with the speed of his delivery. We had George at our club several months ago and the amount of ideas and techniques that he shared was amazing.

Les

p.s. ... the bowl ain't bad, either!
Education is important, but wood turning is importanter.

Thank you Les.
I am not doing anymore club demo's to be honest I find it very tiring mostly because of the driving
Mark Sanger and I are going to do a two day texturing and coloring course that will be really good value.
If anybody is interested let Mark or me know be the first to book places will be limited to a very small group
Good value accommodation near by.

I had the opportunity to handle this bowl today.

I only have one more thing to say...

...it is as beautiful to hold as it looks.

Hello, I love the shape but have a little reservation about the color since I tend not to interfere with natural aspect of the wood  when  it is beautiful by itself and this is a beautiful burl. Furthermore the edge could have been a little thinner, as it is it makes the bowl a little heavy. At least in the picture.
Regards.
