Now it's getting adictive! :D

Alder, 18cm diam x 10cm high

reclaimed olive ash (former lintel in mill building) 22cm diam x 5cm high

Muhuhu, 18cm diam x 6cm high

all 3 together...

all made to a wall thickness of just over 2.5mm, and finished with carnauba.

Very nice, Les. I love thin wall vessels. Well turned and finished. Good job. Malcolm.

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

...now wouldn't that be quite a project!

...couldn't get over it, Steve. Sweetest wood I ever turned. Strange, though, that even though the wood feels waxy and gives an incredible finish, straight off the scraper, it still makes lots of dust....and it smells divine.

I think that the trick, Graham, is to be bold when you're shaping the outside. You have to remove a heck of a lot of wood to get the profile. Also, when working the inside of the bowl, the rim can be a bit flexible, so when getting the finish close to the rim, you might need to put a finger or two onto the outside of the bowl to absorb vibration/flexing/

Les,

I've got it (bare with the poor humor)

Drill a hole straight through and sell them as funnels.

Truly Les,

your ability to 'see the curve' and produce these in such a variety of sizes and make each one 'right to the eye' is wonderful to behold.
