I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

We have admired your work for some time now JO.....The oak  walnut  maple and imagination that
has gone into the creation of the pieces all working together to produce a Stunning Sculpture.

Hi Jo...good to see your work back in the gallery, and what a lovely piece it is. I particularly like the rugged shapes of the oak plinth against the beautiful curves of the walnut....smashing piece.

Jo,

I can see a new series of figures here. I'm sure that they have a meaning we have not yet identified, they are holding something out as an offering. Eager to hear you say more about what is behind your vision of this piece.

Whatever it is, as ever, stunning ideology in the presentation.

Hi all,
thanks for your acceptance to this object.
It is a old German saying: "Give and take" or "Give is more blessed than take". I hope I found the right words.
The one figure gives something, the second takes something. Because "give" is mor blessed as "take" this figure
ist up and more in the foreground. I like it to work with spheres, as you can see. I use very often the sphere as
a symbol for the soul. The sphere ist a old symbol for the soul in old religions and philosophies. Therefore the figures
are showing his souls as "give" and "take". I hope you understand what I mean. Thanks for your appreciation. You know,
I'm a little bit crazy.
Thanks Jo

Jo,

when you explain the figure, the position of the Give & Take spheres in the figures become so much more apparent. One held to the chest, one held forward.

You achieve so much imagery in such a simple way.

Apart from appreciating the skill involved in the pieces I have to admit I wasn't overly keen on this as a sculpture but your explanation suddenly made me see it differently and I really like it a lot. Surprising how blind we can be at times. I just hadn't seen the work as anything more than an abstract sculpture  :-[

Hi,
yes, for us as woodturners anytimes it isn't easy to have a look over the edge of woodturning and to observe little things in a figure,
ans secondly it isn't easy to know the thoughts of old philosophies and such madmans as I am. But I'm happy to do that. That's
because it is also my "third half" in my life, and this "third half" is a like a great gift for me.
Much creatings,
 Jo
