Display of Olive Mushrooms
« on: June 12, 2013, 12:47:39 PM »
Turned these yesterday and tried a few display options.

Decided on this piece of old grape vine from the farm.

Posted a photo onto FB yesterday and had a friend ask me where I had found them and what type of mushroom they are! I guess thats one compliment for the reality effect!

Comments always welcomed!

Wow....that's such a step forward from your previous posting of a few weeks ago. The mounting of this batch is so much better. The overall effect is just great - you must be really p[leased with them.

Keep 'em coming.

Acros, there not mush-room for improvement here, you've got this spot on, the form is right, as with the display, the branch works, it's just as if they'd grown from it.

Well done   David

Thank you for all your encouraging comments.

Unfortunately they were not on display for very long... They were snapped up really quickly and I now have a request to make a few more for display.

Yes, I was really pleased with them and they really did look as though they had grown there.

Off to make a few more displays today and, hopefully, a few sales!

Hey arcos...the only thing that I'm not too sure about, is your use of the word 'Unfortunately'....roll the money in, mate.
One question....approximately what diameter branches are you making the mushroom caps out of?

Arcos,

they look great and as if the were growing out of the old grape vine. Just like they should.

Now if only you can get real fungus to do that - you'll get spalting!

Unfortunate in that I wanted a few more people to see them and then get some orders in!
Unfortunate in that I cannot sell at a price that I feel they 'deserve'!

But always nice to ear a few euros for work completed!

Diameter of branches I am not sure to be honest  :-[ I would say that the finished caps are from about 1/2 inch down if that helps?

Thanks dr4g0nfly

Turning grapevine is a trial without inducing spalting!

I have managed to turn a few small pendents from grapevine but it really is time consuming!
