Purple Heart Lidded Hollow Form
« on: April 11, 2013, 11:30:50 PM »
Height of form 2 1/2" the African Blackwood finial 1 1/2". The texturing was done with a small round burr at 33000 rpm. C & C please.

Rod, this is one elegant form, nicely done throughout, like it, well done.

Rod,

I am really liking that texture effect. Done with a burr but it has the hammered look of a copper bowl - really attractive.

The Purpleheart, does it have a blackness in the grain or have you added a colour over the texture please.

Hi,
Thanks for your positive comments.

dr4g0nfly......the black area at the top is in the grain of the purpleheart, the other small areas were caused with too much pressure applied with the burr but accidentally have achieved a pleasing effect, thanks for picking up on it.

That is a lovely piece Rod. The black finial and the "hammered" purpleheart blend beautifully.

Hi Rod,
I like this a lot and appreciate how much work has gone into the texturing, it is not easy doing "random" and getting it right.
Nice ,delicate finial too.

Hi John BHT,

Nice to finally put a face to the name after speaking to you in Yandles last Saturday.
Thanks for your positive comments on the hollow form, I hope to post another one in the next day or so.

Thanks also to everyone else for your C & Cs

See, not a mistake, a design opportunity, it works for me and really makes the piece stand out.
