And here are todays efforts...
« on: February 07, 2013, 08:06:51 PM »
The photos are not great sorry...

The first is the bottle stopper with a 'quaint pearl' perched atop! Just wanted to try something a little different, a little embellishment!

Then there is the bangle on my dusty old table lamp. It's about 1cm wide and will fit a child/small teenager.

Then the tea lights.... Well, 'rustic' is a word for them! I tried lots of photos but none of them really shows their natural 'beauty'  ;D

Appreciate your comments and feedback as usual!

Have a look at this Paul...

http://www.woodworkersinstitute.com/print.asp?p=594

It's pretty much the way I choose with slight adaptations to make it 'easier' for me. It also includes earrings and pendant. Today I found that the double sided tape does not grip so well on wood to wood so be careful! Tomorrow I am going to look for piece of plastic/formica covered board to try again or even straight onto a faceplate and then 'juggle' with the offset positioning. Just don't fancy scraping my chisels on the metal plate!

That's a nice colour and finish to the Olive bangle, is that your 50/50 mixture, it's come up well. As with the bottle stopper, has it got a cork to it, as that alone should sit in the neck of the bottle.

Well rustic it is with the tea lights, would hold a full candle as well with those bases.

You did have a good day in the end.

Now they really are 'rustic' tea light holders.

You've done well on the bangle. The only thing I'd warn about is I can see that got's got a very inclusive knot or pith grain. If it's pith it is likely to be a weak point and you might like to try avoid using that section of wood in the future.

Thanks for all your comments!

Yes, the finish on the bangle is the 50/50 mix and I am really pleased with the finish. It also wipes on beautifully!

The tea lights...

Well, I have received an order to make 1000+ of these! No they will not have the branches included but will be 'rustic'!

I have also received an order to make a bangle from yesterdays effort!

Aside from this turning into a little business I am REALLY enjoying learning!

It is SO adictive and 'theraputic'!!

Keep 'em turning boys ;-)

Oh and no, there is no cork on the bottle stopper! It was just a practice piece.

Its quite funny, I live in Portugal, one of the largest producers of cork and I can't find 'optic' cork! Can buy Portuguese cork in the UK of course and ship back!

Was thinking about turning as one piece and using 'o' rings on the bottle end. Any one tried that?
