This was my First attempt at a really large piece of Oak Burr on my newly acquired VB36

Hi Jack,
you have a right to be pleased with this one, you're making the rest of us jealous, a VB and an oak burr!
Nicely turned and finished,well done.
Regards
John

It's a winner, Jack.
I've reduced the image size to stop the overflow on the page. Hope you don't mind.

Hi jack,
It would be nice to know what you used for such a sheen, the finish is superb but I have doubts about the shape of the lower section my preference would have been a continuing curve to a base about one third of the diameter to lift when viwed.
Cheers Martin.

Hi Martin,
As you so often find with Burr's of this size - The shape is somewhat dictated by the piece of Wood.
In order to maximise the piece - 18" Diameter by 7" tall it was necessary to simply cut away until I found smooth enough sides without obvious & natural holes.
The Finish is a recent find for me from one of my fellow Club Members - Osmo Polyx Hardwax Oil. Applied very thin - Three coats Brushed on & immediately wiped off. Then finished with Findles Wax Polish.
Thank you for your constructive observations - Jack
