Latest piece
« on: October 05, 2012, 12:46:46 PM »
Hi All, This is my latest piece inspired by a picture of a liquor glass. It's 160mm high by 45mm wide. Finished with wood wax, I'm unsure of the timber - any ideas?
Best regards,
Ian

If your Liqueur glasses are 160mm high by 45mm wide - I want to come to your parties!

I like the shape, but have you slightly waisted (narrowed) the lower part of the stem - or is it a foible of the camera angle?

As to the wood, any clues you can give, what it smelt like, possible sources, English Tropical etc.

thanks for the comment dr4gonfly,i,ve looked at the photo and it does look weird, must be er indoors dodgy camera work ;)
the size of the cup is only 50mm deep x 45mm wide.
As for the wood, it was quite heavy, no smell, and naturally dark and well defined grain, but the piece I cut it off was just a piece of waste wood in a box of offcuts.
THANKS IAN.

It's probably no more than illusion caused by the transition from surface to background.

Still it's a nice looking goblet. some shape don't take well to being increased in size.
