Ripple. A lidded pedestal bowl
« on: September 30, 2012, 11:44:52 AM »
Originally this was a square winged pedestal bowl with lid. It was 12"sq but when turning the grooves on the underside which had to be offset to the grooves on the top and the wings being just over 1l8" one of the corners flew off. It was then turned round and is not a bad recovery. It is 12"dia x 8"high and is turned from Sapele.

Gwilym, Another very nice piece from you, it just would not have worked as a three wing form then, shame could have been interesting, but then it is your piece and it has been a good recovery. Lovely finish, well done.

Cheers David

Well, isn't it stunning, as David says, lovely finish. I've nothing in my memory to compare it to it's such a strange shape and that finial the spiral twist - wow.

I must admit I half expected to see little green men in the picture with it's lid off!
