Ash bowl, some ripple/quill a bit of burl and spalt, 14.5" x 2.5" with 1.5" rolled rim (37 cm x 6.5 cm x 38 cm rim) Danish oil finish.

You've managed to make an awfully nice dish out of a very busy bit of timber. I do like the golden glow it's got.

It is always wonderful as too what is within any timber, what can be so plain can yield the most unexpected figures/featurs or grain, and the form you give it can make or break it, it's always best to check a piece as you turn, you could turn away some feature it had an you hoped to use, which happens, not to loss any is why this form is chucky, plus the void should not break through.

Yes ...  it's more an inbetweener, not Bowl nor Platter but a dish to call it something new or not ... 

The golden color, interesting as it was Danish oil which is very old at this point ...  as an oil, should the tin rust inside !!! which I noticed had happened an given the oil a deeper brownish color and most apparent since decanting into a bottle, as I use Danish on these larger pieces it could be time to renew it, then if it results in the golden glow ...
