Well you have to have a go don't you
« on: September 04, 2012, 09:35:23 PM »
A well meaning friend turned up recently with some odd ball pieces of oak and said "see what you can do with these then." My first inclination was to put them into the pile for the wood burner but I thought I'd see what I could do with them. This piece was part burned already, a7" long and varied between 2" and 4" wide. It is part hollowed out, sort of a big volume bud vase LOL. Having been already on a fire it was definitely dry, and harder than any wood I have ever turned.

It's one thing to leave natural edges, but a completely different courage to part turn a piece and leave distressed faces. I do love this sort of turned piece.

Well done.
